HIV Research

UNESCO is committed to mitigating the impact of the HIV epidemic. The Organization, a founding member of UNAIDS and one of ten co-sponsors, has made the fight against HIV and AIDS one of the spearheads of its priorities, taking the helm of The Global Initiative on Education and HIV / AIDS (EDUCAIDS). 

UNESCO's contribution is interdisciplinary. Initiatives in the fight against HIV and AIDS from the virus and research and scientific knowledge of this. The Organization has a role to play in promoting and support the dissemination of scientific information on: 

the biology of organisms infested in general and more specifically with HIV 
preventing infection treatment and care of those infected, including scientific information on drugs available for therapy basic research in HIV and AIDS and its role in the fight against the pandemic.

Partner: 

The World AIDS Research and Prevention was established in January 1993 and is led by Professor Luc Montagnier, head of the team, who discovered the AIDS virus in 1983. The Foundation, an NGO under the umbrella of the UNESCO, has as its main objective to establish a global network of research centers and prevention in order to develop international cooperation and facilitate the transfer of knowledge.
