The Department of Land and Natural Resources of Henan Province has revealed today that it has completed the outline of the local distribution of fossils of vertebrate paleontology, including dinosaur, more than 300 archaeological sites, of which two have listed as of global significance and another hundred are considered of great importance at the national level. Xingliao Zhang, director of Henan Geology Museum, said that after 3 years of research and management, experts have concluded this arduous task of cataloging. The excavation of fossils of dinosaurs and other animals of the Mesozoic era shows the existence of two compact areas of dinosaur fossils in the world of Henan Province: Basin and Ruyang Basin Luanchuantantou. In addition, the basin is possibly Neixiang another site where are large number of fossils of dinosaurs.
In Ruyang basin have been discovered 103 fossil sites, of which 29 have been excavated. They have been found more than a dozen dinosaur genera and species hitherto unknown, such as giant sauropods, ankylosaurus and carnosaurus large, and three layers of fossils of dinosaur eggs. The giant sauropods are considered the "king of the dinosaurs from Asia and are located in the front row among the large dinosaurs in the world. The finding has filled a void in the finding of the existence of dinosaurs of the early Cretaceous period in China.
Luanchuantantou in the basin have been found 87 sites of fossils, of which 27 have been excavated and found eight new species and genera of dinosaurs such as tyrannosaurus rex and oviraptor. Is another important finding of the lower Cretaceous period in China.
Neixiang in the basin have been collected for the first time in southern Henan, fossils of two new genera of dinosaurs. A fossil of a partial vertebrae and ribs has been named segnosaurus Baotian Henan, and is believed to belong to the species of sauropods small. Another of a fossil skull of an incomplete has been classified as part of a new dinosaur species named Xixi Henan.
Just with the key findings (two specimens rank as national treasures and three others are complete skeletons) were also unearthed valuable fossils of dinosaurs, turtles, lizards and mammals
